1. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small data files that a website stores on, or reads from, your browser or device. They allow a website and its service providers to recognize a browser or device, remember information about a visit, provide requested functionality, and understand how the website is used.
We may also use similar technologies, including tags, pixels, web beacons, local storage, and session storage. Tags and pixels are small pieces of code or image requests that can recognize activity such as viewing a page or selecting a link. Local storage can retain information in your browser between visits, while session storage normally retains information only for the current browser session. In this policy, references to "cookies" include these similar technologies where applicable.
First-party cookies are stored under the website domain you visit; third-party cookies are stored under a different domain. External providers such as Google, Meta, Microsoft and Klaviyo may also set first-party cookies on odyss.life. The cookie domain and the technology provider are therefore separate attributes; a first-party domain does not mean that only Odyss processes the information.
2. How we use these technologies
| Category | How it is used | Consent |
|---|---|---|
| Required | Supports security, account access, cart and checkout functions, traffic routing, and other features necessary for the Website to operate. | Always active because the Website cannot provide requested services without them. |
| Preferences | Remembers choices such as language and interface state so that the Website can provide a more consistent experience. | Used only when preferences processing is permitted under Shopify's privacy settings. |
| Analytics | Helps us measure visits, page and section views, interactions, and commerce events so that we can understand and improve the Website. | Google Analytics and our related analytics events load only when analytics processing is permitted. |
| Marketing | Supports advertising, attribution, and measuring marketing communications through approved tags or pixels. | Marketing processing is enabled only when it is permitted. You can still play embedded YouTube videos after declining analytics and marketing cookies; starting playback connects your browser to YouTube and YouTube may process information under its own privacy policy. |
3. Pixel, web beacon and tag technologies
We use scripts, pixels, web beacons and tags from Meta, Google, Microsoft Clarity and Klaviyo. These technologies send small requests or event data when pages load or visitors interact, such as the page address, referring page, browser or device identifiers (including fbp where applicable), and clicks or video interactions. We use them for website analytics, advertising measurement, audience building and personalization. They are enabled only for the relevant consent category; YouTube playback remains available after declining non-required cookies, but YouTube may process viewing data when a video is played.
4. Technologies and providers we use
- Shopify: Hosts the Website and provides required storefront, cart, checkout, security, and privacy-preference technology.
- Google Analytics: Measures how permitted visitors use and interact with the Website.
- Meta Pixel: Measures advertising performance and audience interactions.
- Microsoft Clarity: Analyzes session interactions and usage patterns.
- Klaviyo: Supports marketing attribution and communications.
- Google Tag Manager: Manages approved analytics and marketing tags and receives the visitor's consent settings.
- YouTube: Embedded videos remain available after you decline non-required cookies. When you choose to play a video, your browser connects to YouTube (using the privacy-enhanced player where available), which may set or read identifiers and process viewing data under YouTube's privacy policy.
- ODYSS first-party storage: Remembers language selection, newsletter display state, age-verification state where enabled, and other interface choices.
The exact cookies and identifiers created by these providers can change as their services evolve. You can inspect currently stored cookies and browser storage using your browser's privacy or developer settings. Shopify also publishes information about the cookies used by its platform in Shopify's Cookie Policy.
5. Information these technologies may process
Depending on your choices and the technology involved, cookies may process identifiers, IP-derived location, browser and device information, language, referring pages, pages viewed, links selected, session timing, cart activity, and purchase events. We use this information for the purposes listed above and as described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Duration
Session cookies and session storage normally expire when you close your browser or end the session. Persistent cookies and local storage remain for a defined period or until you remove them. Duration depends on the purpose and provider; we keep first-party storage only as long as reasonably necessary for the function it supports.
7. Managing your choices
You can accept, decline, or change non-required cookie categories through the Website's cookie banner and privacy-preference controls. You can also block or delete cookies and browser storage through your browser settings. Blocking required storage may prevent account, cart, checkout, or other Website features from working correctly. Where applicable, Shopify also recognizes supported Global Privacy Control signals for data-sale or sharing opt-outs.
8. Changes and contact
We may update this Cookie Policy when our practices or legal obligations change. The date above shows when it was last updated. Questions about this policy can be sent to contact@odyss.life.
